Norfolk Oktoberfest Named Finalist for “Event of the Year”

 

Norfolk – The 2016 Norfolk Oktoberfest Family Festival was recently name a finalist for “Event of the Year” by the Mid America Chamber Executives (MACE) Board of Directors, who supports chambers in a six-state area. .

According to the MACE website, the “Event of the Year” award is presented for an excellent chamber event. The events are judged on criteria such as value to the community and chamber, resonance within their community, ongoing effects and popularity, measurable results and innovation.

Jarad Dahlkoetter, Event’s Director for the Norfolk Area Chamber, had the opportunity to attend a special luncheon during the MACE annual conference, in Sioux Falls, where three event finalists were presented. The Fargo, ND Chamber of Commerce received the designation of “Event of the Year” during the luncheon for their Military appreciation event.

“We are very honored just to be chosen as a finalist for this prestigious award,” said Dahlkoetter, “Oktoberfest has come a long way in it’s 5 years due to huge support from the community, a dedicated committee, and a long list of volunteers.”

Norfolk Oktoberfest Family Festival is a two-day family festival held each September in downtown Norfolk to celebrate the fall harvest and German Heritage in Northeast Nebraska. It includes stein-holding competitions, live music, inflatables, beer gardens, bucket pong tournaments, kids activities, and a bike race.

The 2017 Oktoberfest Family Festival is set for September 29-30, 2017.
